Hp Envy 14 i7 good for gaming?

I have bought an HP Envy 14 and was wondering if it is good for playing games like shogun 2: total war, Dragon Age II, Crysis 2 and others that I might want? Is an i7 good for gaming since it is only 1.6GHz, also is the graphics card good for gaming, and is there enough RAM?Here are the specs:

- Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

- Intel Core i7-720QM Processor at 1.6GHz | 6MB L2 Cache | with Turbo Boost up to 2.8 GHz

- 1GB ATI Radeon HD5650 with Switchable Graphics

- 4GB DDR3 RAM (2 Dimm)Hp Envy 14 i7 good for gaming?
My gf bought me Alienware m11x r2 and i used it to play Shogun 2 and Crysis 2 and it runs great.
go to Notebookcheck.com and look at the benchmark for games on your graphic card.

i can play them very fluently on low settings, and good on medium and okay on high, and it runs on ultra high for both shogun 2 and crysis but i dont recommend playing on high or ultra high.

my specs is i5 530um processor is overclocked to 1.8ghz and torboboost to 2.4ghz
nVidea Geforce 335m 1gb dedicated memory
8gb of ram

and i also turned on ThrottleStop it forces all 4 threads to be use at the same time and boost up turbo boost consistency.

So conclusion is that base on the spec of your laptop you should be able to run Shogun 2 Crysis 2 in atleast medium fluently which already looks hella good. trust me. and it would run good on high and okay on Ultra high. by the way i hope your laptop has backlight keyboard cause thats only $25 plus to add that on the HP. cause it really helps when you play at night its freaking awesome too.
4GB of RAM is the sweet spot for gaming, that's pretty perfect. Any more is just unnecessary, and windows 7 usually eats up 2gb.

The 2.8gh turbo boost on the i7 means that it can turn off a few of it's cores and run at a fast 2.8ghz for things that only use one or 2 cores, like games. So that's good.

The 5650 isn't the best of the best, but it should be more than adequate for gaming, as it has it's own dedicated graphics memory.

So ya, you have a pretty good gaming laptop.Hp Envy 14 i7 good for gaming?
Yes there's enough ram, But all of these games can probably be only played on mid settings or lower.

If you want to play games better your going to have to get a desktop. Otherwise at best it can play mid setting. And the Turbo boost is 2.8Ghz so when your playing games it will most likely raise in Ghz to help the performance.
Well my personnal opinion is that your HD5650 is a middle range graphic notebook card.

You may consider 5 main things when buying a GAMING computer:

1) Try bestly to buy a desktop PC, because technology advance so fast and you will not need to change your laptop every year (if you're a pro gamer)

2) Graphic card =%26gt; If MAX SPECT isn't your thing, then this laptop seems like quiet good.

3) i7 is a decent choice, the best processor line. Still, think about if you will really play crysis everywhere you will be. You will surely not play Crysis on the bus or at work... Even Dragon Age.

4) Windoes 7 Home Premium 64 bit: NOTHING ELSE, Win7 HomePrem is the best for gaming.

5) RAM =%26gt; Well 4 GB DDR3 is low for Crysis 2. I'd say to get 6 GB minimum, even DDR3. On my gaming setup I have 6 GB DDR3 and it runs smoothly.

SO, you must think HARD of "will you play everywhere FPS games or intense RPG (DA)?".

If yes, i'll probably take it. If no, i'd consider a Desktop Gaming PC.
