What Laptop Do you think I should buy?

I'm thinking of getting a laptop this year for many reasons.

1. I need one for College.

2. Store All my music and files.

3. I need my own personal Computer.

I was thinking of getting HP ENVY 14 Beats edition series laptop, but will it be a disadvantage if I need it for school purposes because of certain programs or things like that?

What Laptops would you recommend? What Laptop Do you think I should buy?
Here's a simple rundown,
HP - delivers quality laptops for an excellent price.[ GeForce Nvidia graphics anyone?? =) ]
Sony - Definitely good quality, although a bit over priced just because it's a big name company.
Dell has been coming along nicely delivering strong PCs
Toshiba - you can definitely get a good pc especially for less than 1000.
Macs - uhhh no. overpriced, huge monopoly on aftermarket products.... would i get ever get one, yeah right. my friend has had so many problems with his MAC Book PRO @ $2000... I would never recommend a Mac, sorry Mac users, they just look good on the outside... and that's it.

I'd say check out BestBuy, they're always changing their prices every Saturday, so you might get lucky!

Anyway, good luck in your search! hope you find the right one!

EDIT: If you really enjoy music and you plan in majoring in design, then I would suggest (Even though I hate it) a Mac. If you aren't gonna be doing heavy searching and you have an insanely large budget, then get a mac. However, Mac's are prone to get stolen.
Let me introduce you some compact laptops:
13" Macbook Air (not my recommendation though)
HP Envy 14 - btw Beats by Dr Dre products are pure bulls*it for the price and that software is propably just an EQ
Samsung Series 9
Those were slim and expensive.
Try Asus N or U series to find sub 1000$ laptops that are powerful like this one

As you are thinking, HP Envy is good enough. Have a look at Dell XPS models also.
