I have the HP Envy 14 with i5-450m processor and I have the desktop gadget that shows me when it is turbo boosting. Even when I unplug the laptop and set it to Power Saving in battery options it still turbo boosts sometimes when just opening word for example. I'm sure I could save some battery if I could turn it off.Can you disable turbo boost when on battery?
Open the Turbo Boost, go to settings and disable it.
You can also remove it from the Startup Menu in the Registry.
