11 And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. 12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. 13 Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. 14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.
The Greek word for sleep is hupnos, from which we get the word hypnosis. The world, the enemy and even our own flesh is constantly lulling us to sleep. Sometimes it's like trying to stay awake through a very boring sermon in church and we keep nodding off. Are you like me? Have you recently woken up from hypnosis, put off the things of the world and put on Christ? What does Romans 13:11-14 mean to you?
Definitely! I was never an avid Christian, but several months ago God woke me up (Thankfully!). I'm now trying my hardest to serve God and throw away worldly desires.
yes, i slip, a lot but i try everydayWhat does Romans 13:11-14 mean to you?

It means we need to start acting like Christians and get ready for Jesus's return
sleep: Believers are pictures as being asleep or inactive. Salvation here refers to the future, when believers will be saved from the presence of sin. Salvation here speaks of the imminent return of Christ.
Have you recently woken up from hypnosis, put off the things of the world and put on Christ? Yes, more lately than ever before. :)
I'm a Christian, but I don't read the bible. It gives me headaches because I have know idea how to decipher it into modern english plus most of it is in parables similar to your question. I've even tried some of the newer translation bibles, but some of the translations I've found to be way, way, off. I
guess I'm just out of luck. Great question though!
To me it means that salvation is here and Christ's return is getting closer day by day. We(Christians) are to repent of sinful deeds(cast off works of darkness) and to live godly lives by the power of the Holy Spirit(put on the armor of light and put on the Lord Jesus Christ). God bless
That Christ is going to return, and so we should be motivated to consistent, daily Christlike living. Anticipating His return should encourage us to live for Him, rather than discourage us.
To me this is saying how we need to wake up and stop being asleep, as the bible says we must be busy about our fathers business ready in season and out of season
No true christian should be hypnotized but unfortunately it happens and when it does we must remember that only God can truly pull us out of it.. he want's Children who are champions Running this race to win it.
We are in this world not of it.. which also reminds me of Do not be conformed to the patterns of this world but be Transformed by the renewing of ur mind
God Bless
When we are in sin and walk in darkness we are asleep and not alive to the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness in Christ to reign in life (Roman 5:17). Paul is exhorting us here at the closing of the age to live our postion in Christ Jesus and walk in the Spirit and have victory over sin (Galatians 5:16). It is time for the world to see Christians walking in victory over sin.
drunkennesses....haha kinda freaked me out a little...for reason i don't want to state. How ever i think it means we need to wake up and stop being Hippocrates.
sorry the bible makes me feel like i have A.D.D or something...i can't focus and i begin to get confused and wonder what's metaphors and whats not.
