I have a HP Envy 14 and I am trying to update my BIOS. It says it is installing and then the computer shuts down and I have to turn it back on but the BIOS is still the old version. How do I do it?How do I update my BIOS?
You really do NOT want to update the BIOS unless the mfr has issued an update to address a known problem, or potential problem, in the prior version. That is the only reason BIOS updates are issued by mfrs.
If the need arises to update the BIOS for this reason, you must identify the EXACT make/model of your motherboard, including revisions, and locate the BIOS update for that specific motherboard.
Otherwise, bad things can/will happen when you 'upgrade'.
The second key thing is DO NOT, for any reason, power off your PC in the middle of a BIOS update. That will cause a catastrophe.
