Would this be a decent laptop for a college student?
It's mostly going to be used for word processing, but I'm certainly going to end up using it for some light gaming, Netflix and Hulu Plus between classes. I wanted something with a mid-sized screen and decent graphics, and the Envy seems to fit.
Specs on the one I'm looking at:
-Intel Core i5-480M Processor 2.66GHz
-4GB DDR3
-750GB (5400RPM) Hard Drive
-ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 switchable graphics with 1024MB DDR3
Don't recommend a Mac. I need a PC for school, not a Mac.HP Envy 14 Laptop, any good?
It's definitely a solid laptop for college. Build quality is quite on par with the expensive, upper end laptop computers in the market. The specifications, size, and aesthetics are nicely balanced out.
Though I have the 1600x900 Radiance display, I feel like Envy 14 series lost a lot of its value since the Radiance Display option went out, but if you don't mind working on 1366x768 resolution instead of 1600x900 (or higher) resolution, it's definitely a laptop worth investing in.
You might be interested in knowing that HP is going to refresh the Envy 14 series with the latest Sandybridge CPUs. Also, I strongly suggest visiting notebookreview.

yeah i agree. mac would be a great operating system but unfortunatley, they just dont have the software support from other companies. but asides that, it wil be a great laptop. that is a nice video card and you will be able to play many intense games on it. plenty of space. plenty of ram. and a great processor. only thing is you might want to look into getting a multicore processor as it is better with multitasking. all in all...nice laptopHP Envy 14 Laptop, any good?
