How long does an average laptop last?

I really want to buy a brand, new, cool laptop right now. the problem is how long does an average laptop last? I am eyeing for the hp envy 14 beats right now (which is pretty good right now) And i need it for at least 4 years until i finish college. I had desktops, and i know they can last VERY LONG. but i dont have that much experience with laptops yet. I just dont want to buy my hp envy 14 beats, and then have to buy a new one in like 2 or 3 yearsHow long does an average laptop last?
that laptop should last u through college. unless u want to run some modern games in like 4 years you should be perfectly fine with that laptop.
i have had a gateway that was a gaming laptop for 3 years and i even carried it around a lot and i was very happy with it but i retired it recently because it isnt very good for college, but it still works perfectly fine.
take decent care of it and you should be able to keep it for at least 4 years.
Depends on how you use it. If you carry it to class and bang it around, you'll be lucky to get 2 years.
