Intel i5-520m vs i7-720qm for gaming and college?

I plan on buying a HP Envy 14 for college. I look to play games on it such as starcraft 2, some fallout 3 and similar games. The envy 14 comes with the Ati 5650 mobility and im torn between getting the i5-520m processor or the i7-720gm. I heard the i5 uses less power and is cooler but i want something that will last for atleast 4 years. Which of the two should i choose for college and gaming?Intel i5-520m vs i7-720qm for gaming and college?
unless your major depends on it ( rendering, autoCAD etc ) then you don't need the i7

get i5 because

-its plenty for what you plan to do ( most games need more gpu than cpu )

-its easier on the battery life and since your getting the envy 14 you probably want it to be as portable as possible

-you get switchable graphics which means that when your not playing games or doing other graphic intensive applications, you can use the integrated graphics which will increase the battery lifeIntel i5-520m vs i7-720qm for gaming and college?
The i5 paired with the 5650 (and at least 4GB of ram) should be enough to play pretty much any game out there currently, but who knows what will come out in the next 4 years? The obvious answer would be get the i7 because it's more powerful than the i5. However, if it is a possible option, go for the i5 and upgrade the graphics card.
