Question About Turbo Boost for the i5/i7 CPUs?

The HP Envy 14 laptop that I plan on purchasing has the choice for an i5 or i7 processor that allows Turbo Boost.

What is Turbo Boost? Is it harmful to the CPU? Will it shorten the life of the CPU, and if so, by how much?

Thanks!Question About Turbo Boost for the i5/i7 CPUs?
Turbo boost is where you start to run a game or multi task, and when your load starts to get heavy, the processor tells itself to throttle up to 2.8Ghz or what ever the processor is rated for, and gets the work done faster so it can get back to idle speed and use less energy and make less heat again.

Really it is dangerous I might imagine, but no different than any other laptop, things like laying them flat on a bed, where they cannot breathe, will blow up any laptop after prolonged usage...

But no Turbo boost itself is very safe and probally lengthens the life of the processor in a way...
